ZerX 0.1.3 analyzes accessible fixed drives on Windows 11 x64 and reports unreadable areas. Cleanup is limited to manually selected aged Temp and supported browser HTTP-cache files, moved to the Recycle Bin. Nothing is preselected.

On Mac: understand where your storage goes

• Find overlooked files

  Explore large folders, app caches, logs and developer files such as build outputs and simulator data. Scan time and coverage depend on your disk, file count and permissions.

• Trash by default

  Items move to the Trash by default and can be restored in Finder until you empty it. Permanent deletion is a separate setting, off by default, and requires confirmation; it cannot be undone. See the protected folders and exceptions.

• Extra care with active projects

  When ZerX identifies an active project from recent changes, its caches and build outputs are not preselected. Review warnings before removing files you may still need.

• Local scanning, no account

  The App Store app does not send file names, contents or scan results to the developer. It has no analytics or account. Installation and updates are handled by Apple.

How it works on Mac

1. Select your startup disk

   Select your startup disk in the standard macOS file picker. ZerX scans files your account can read and reports unreadable areas instead of treating them as empty. No administrator privileges are required to scan. Full Disk Access is optional: it can include more protected files and reduce separate permission prompts, but does not remove every macOS restriction.

2. Scan

   See a disk-space overview and explore accessible folders. Unreadable locations remain marked; a scan cannot enumerate every protected file.

3. Review and tick

   Review suggested cleanup items and choose what you no longer need. Personal documents are not automatically selected for cleanup; size alone does not make a file disposable. A cache label is not a guarantee that a file is disposable.

4. Delete to Trash

   Empty the Trash when you're sure.

Checks before deletion on Mac

• Scope allowlist

  Selecting the startup disk allows inspection beyond your home folder, but deletion is limited to eligible items inside your home folder. System files and other users’ folders are outside that deletion scope.

• Hard blocklist

  Listed locations for credentials, mail, cloud storage and libraries are protected. Some app caches and device backups are exceptions that you choose manually. Read the specific rules and exceptions before deleting.

• One gate

  Every deletion passes through a single checkpoint that normalizes the path and re-checks it after resolving symlinks. A symlink into a protected folder doesn't get through. Covered by tests.
